You're probably scaring your audience into not sharing your content: that's because you're probably giving them an abundance of too many different choices.
In one of the best known studies on marketing psychology, the researchers found that buyers who were presented with 24 flavors of jam bought 6x less jam than those who were presented with 4x more flavors. (Slideshare: Sheena S. and Mark Top 10 Things Every Designer Needs To Know About People)
Understand this cognitive bias helps to optimize your marketing campaigns: so that they are efficient, avoid feeding your prospects with too much data and too wide a choice.
Why do this Growth Hack?
Facilitate their thinking by offering limited options, in accordance with their needs. When you give people too many options, they're much less likely to take action on anything.
This hack helps you apply this knowledge to increase traffic and conversions by eliminating decision fatigue in order toincrease the number of social shares of your content.
Instead of presenting your visitors with a million options for sharing your content:
You can be sure that they won't be sharing on any of the platforms.
Increase your shares dramatically by showing only the social platforms that your target audience actually uses, as in the example below.
And don't worry. You don't have to guess which social networks to show. There's a Growth Hack for that!
How do you do this Growth Hack?
The trick is to only show on your sharing bar the social networks that your target audience actually uses.
So you have to know what these social networks are, right?
Step 1
- Think of a blog or a popular website in your niche that reaches your target audience.
- For example, let's say you have a blog about parenting
Step 2
- Go on BuzzSumo
- Type in the popular site URL to show the most popular content and the number of shares on each of the top 5 social networks:
Step 3
- Identify the top 2 or 3 social networks where your target audience shares content.
- In our example, it seems that Scary Mommy's audience shares mostly on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest, based on the numbers.
Step 4
- Put this information into your Sumo dashboard,
- Open Share
- Go in Settings.
- Drag only the 2 or 3 most popular networks you've just identified to Selected Services (Services (selected) :
Step 5
- Press Save
- Now let your users share your content more easily.
Bonus: Don't you have sharing tools?
For my part, I use a very effective free tool whose script does not slow down page loading at all.
It is very important when using external tools to ensure that they do not slow down your site.
Unfortunately, many are not optimized and slow down your pages - that's why I left the WordPress universe for Webflow for a while now: themes or plugins are generally performance chasms.
1) Go to Social9
Social9's address is as follows: https://social9.com/
You will see, opening an account is very simple, that is to say that a few seconds will be enough for you to do it.

2) Set up your networks
Here, use the networks you selected beforehand on BuzzSumo in the previous steps.
3) Install the code on your site
The vast majority of CMS are taken into account and the installation is explained for each of them, so you will have no trouble finalizing the procedure by yourself.
If you really have trouble doing it, ask one of your developers for help or hire a Freelancer for a few euros on Fiverr.
