What is Unbounce software?
Unbounce is an online marketing platform dedicated to creating and optimizing landing pages.
Its objective is to allow businesses to maximize their conversion rate, i.e. the percentage of visitors who perform a desired action on a page, whether it is registering for a newsletter, downloading a white paper, or making a purchase:
- Ease of use : With its intuitive interface, Unbounce makes landing page design accessible even to those who don't have coding skills.
- Landing page creation : With Unbounce, you can quickly create effective landing pages (Smart Builder) without overburdening your development team.
- AB tests and analytical tools : Unbounce offers professional tools for conducting AB tests on your pages, allowing you to compare different variants and optimize your conversions.
- Customization and optimization : Unbounce offers features such as dynamic text replacement to quickly personalize your pages.
- Oriented to conversion : The ultimate goal of any landing page is to convert visitors into prospects or customers.
Unbounce offers an essential tool for any business looking to maximize the effectiveness of their landing pages and increase their conversion rates.
Features offered by Unbounce
Unbounce is primarily a landing page creator, let's get started:
- Landing page : Unbounce landing page creation and other tools at your disposal.
- Pop-ups and sticky bar windows : Easily create popup windows and sticky bars to generate leads.
- AB tests : Test and improve your landing pages.
- Reports and analyses : Measure the performance of your landing pages.
- Dynamic text replacement : Match the content on your landing page to the search queries that visitors have typed in to maximize relevance and increase conversions.
- Smart Traffic : An AI-powered conversion tool that automatically sends traffic to the most relevant landing page.
- MPAS : Build AMP pages that load up to 85% faster than standard mobile pages.
- Form creator : Create and add forms to your landing pages
Let's start by looking at Unbounce's most important function: its landing page builder.
1. Landing pages
Unbounce's drag-and-drop creator means anyone can get started with the tool and start creating pages without writing any code or using specialized design software.
- Drag and drop creator : Add, remove, or customize any part of your landing pages in just a few clicks.
- Over 100 models : Build pages in minutes from a template or create your own from scratch.
- Clone and edit : save time by duplicating and editing your most successful landing pages for new campaigns.
- Copy and paste : All you have to do is copy and paste these elements from one landing page to another, without having to recreate everything.
- Full control : Customize every detail to the pixel and add your brand without limits.
- Fast publishing : Publish pages directly on your WordPress site with The Unbounce WP landing page plugin or on your own custom domain.
- Copywriting : Smart Copy writing assistant
You can clone and edit entire pages, copy and paste between pages, and save your own templates for later use.
2. Pop-ups and sticky bars
Unbounce comes with its own pop-up and sticky bar generator, which you can use to increase conversions.
- Drag-and-drop creator : Once again, you have a fast and robust constructor to create your windows and/or sticky bar.
- Patterns : You can also start from a model and adapt it to your needs or create your windows from scratch.
- Targeting and triggers : Choose who sees your pop-ups, how and when they are triggered, and dynamically change content based on visitors' keywords (dynamic text replacement).
- Plan : Program campaigns that run automatically in order to always deliver the most relevant promotions.
Pop-ups can increase conversion rates, my best advice would be to stick to exit windows for desktop visitors and use sticky bars for mobile visitors.
3. A/B testing
Unbounce offers comprehensive features of A/B testing on all levels, which allows you to optimize your pages and your promotion or exit windows for maximum performance.
You can set up test campaigns in a few clicks to test entirely different pages, smaller variations—like the same page with and without a lead generation form—or specific items like your calls to action.
This is a very important feature for pages designed to convert and it's always frustrating to find out that a landing page or website creator doesn't provide A/B testing features or limits them to their most expensive plans.
4. Reports and analyses
Unbounce provides information on the performance of your landing pages or website and on the progress of your tests.
You can access all of these in the Unbounce dashboard, but you'll get the best results by integrating them with Google Analytics.
You will find documentation on how to do this hither, but all you need to do is get the G-Analytics website tracking ID and enter it into Script Manager, which you'll find in the Unbounce interface settings.
Once you have integrated it, you can set up the Event measurement to track user actions, like clicks on your CTAs and other important conversion goals.
5. Dynamic text replacement
Dynamic text replacement is Unbounce's answer to customizing landing pages or websites.
This function allows you to adapt the text of the landing page or website creation according to the keywords that users enter before clicking on your PPC ads.
Combine that with the dynamic keyword insertion in Google Ads and you can create paid search campaigns that match user intent at every interaction. By increasing relevance, your messages will have more impact on users and encourage them to convert in greater numbers.
6. Smart Traffic
Smart Traffic is an AI-powered conversion tool that automatically looks at each visitor's attributes and directs them to the most relevant landing page.
- AI Optimization: The Unbounce platform algorithm starts optimizing in just 50 visits.
- Automated CRO: Increase conversions without waiting for tests to reach statistical significance.
- Fast results: Use Smart Traffic™ to test landing page or website variations more quickly.
Smart Traffic determines which variation of your website will be the most effective by boosting conversion rates by 20% on average.
7. AMP landing page creation
Unbounce was also the first landing page creator, to my knowledge, to support an AMP landing page.
Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) are designed to make the web faster for mobile users:
- AMP landing page creation: Without the usual hassles of landing page development
- AMP templates: Unbounce also provides mobile-optimized AMP templates that you can customize or start from scratch.
- Update: Unbounce will keep your pages and code up to date with the latest AMP standards.
The Unbounce platform removes this problem completely.
It makes it easy to create a landing page, test, and optimize an AMP landing page in the same way you would with any other page built on the platform.
8. Creating an application form
Unbounce also comes with its own form builder that allows you to add lead generation forms to any page.
While it's nice to see this feature included in a landing page builder, the platform never really provides the functionality you need to create high-converting forms.
9. Smart Copy
Unbounce is known for its innovative tools that help business marketers grow.
One of these innovations is the writing feature based on artificial intelligence that produces original and persuasive content for your marketing campaigns in no time.
This frees you up to focus on other critical aspects of your business.
- End of writer's block: The platform quickly generates any type of content, eliminating blank page anxiety.
- Varied templates: Over 45 templates available for any smart copy content creation need
- Chrome extension: Write, develop, or summarize content directly from your browser.
- Easy to use: Choose a template, add context, and get multiple versions of your content.
- Creating content for landing pages: Generate and edit text for your landing pages directly in Unbounce.
- Create comprehensive marketing campaigns: Transform your text into persuasive emails and engaging ads for a variety of platforms.
Pricing
Unbounce offers three basic plans and you get access to most of its features on all of these plans.
While most software providers limit the functionality of their cheapest offerings, the Unbounce platform doesn't really do that — although there are a few differences, which I'll explain in a moment.
First, let's look at the prices.
- Essential: $79/month
- Premium: $159/month
- Business: $399+/month
As you can see, prices start at $79 per month and the main difference is in the number of landing pages and exit windows or promotions you want to create.
Even with the Essential plan, you get a reasonable limit of 75 landing pages and eight pop-up windows/teaser bars, which is enough for small businesses.
Essential and Premium plans are limited to 500,000 unique visitors per month.
Additionally, the Essential plan doesn't support AMP landing pages or some of the more advanced targeting settings.
Some technical features are also reserved for the Enterprise plan, such as audit logs, dedicated support, and page migration.
How to use Unbounce
Ubounce is easy to use, here's how to use the tool to do the following:
- Creating a first landing page
- Publishing a landing page on the website
- Integrating Unbounce with CRM
- Running the first AB test in Unbounce
- Use of pop-ups and sticky bars
This should give you a good idea of what it's like to use Unbounce and an overview of its most important functions.
Creating a landing page in Unbounce
You can start with a blank page and create your own landing page from scratch, use the onboarding template as a general guide, or choose a template and adapt it to your needs.
You wanted to generate leads before launching a product and sharing it on social networks.
So choose a minimal template with an email registration form and adapt the design.
Unbounce's landing page creation makes it very easy to integrate your own designs into its templates, with much more freedom than what you're used to with other platforms.
When it comes to creating your first landing page, you can share it on social networks or a Google Ads campaign in a few minutes.
There's no reason it should take you any longer, as long as you know what you want to create before you start.
Publishing a landing page on a WordPress site
If you manage a WordPress website, the first integration you need to think about is publishing your pages via the CMS.
This operation is easier than expected and the only preparatory work you need to do is to download the Unbounce plugin to check your site.
Once that's done, go back to the Unbounce dashboard and the landing page you want to publish.
Just define the URL (and make sure it's the right URL) you want to post to and that's it.
Integration with your CRM
Unlike WordPress, the integration of Unbounce with a CMS like ActiveCampaign is not as simple as that. Turns out it was because ActiveCampaign updated their API and Unbounce didn't update their documentation.
In the end, you can use Zapier to integrate platforms (it actually works a lot better).
Unbounce's native integration with ActiveCampaign only sends users' names and emails.
Zapier allows you to send additional data: I must say that I recommend this approach if you are using Unbounce and ActiveCampaign.
If you plan on a lot of automations, use N8n with Docker that will allow you an unlimited number of automation to be sure not to exceed Zapier's quotas quickly.
Running an A/B test in Unbounce
Unbounce offers unlimited AB testing on all versions of its platform.
Otherwise known as “split testing”, this test allows you to create several versions of the same landing page and compare them to each other.
Traffic will be split between each release and you can track progress in the Unbounce dashboard.
Overall, AB testing on Unbounce works great and simplifies the whole process.
You don't need any technical expertise and a marketing team will be able to create variations and run tests without any help from a development team.
The only problem you might encounter with A/B testing on Unbounce is that you won't be able to apply it to existing landing pages that you've already created outside of Unbounce.
This is a fairly common problem with landing page creation tools like Unbounce.
But some more comprehensive optimization platforms like VWO and Google Optimize allow you to optimize pages that have already been created elsewhere.
Pop-ups and Sticky bar.
Once again, Unbounce's drag-and-drop editor makes it easy to create and customize these items.
Once you've designed your pop-ups or sticky bar, you can choose when to trigger them, add them to any page on your website (not just Unbounce landing pages), set custom frequencies, and schedule them to appear at certain times.
This gives you a large number of deliverability options and you can monitor performance from your Unbounce dashboard to see how it affects conversion rates.
Compared to platforms dedicated to pop-ups like OptinMonster, Unbounce doesn't offer you a dozen different types of pop-ups to work with.
The most important one is Unbounce's dynamic text replacement feature.
It allows you to adapt the content of exit or promotion windows and landing pages to match the search terms that users type in Google before landing on your site.
